Will you walk on hot coals to help our super sniffers?

Join us on Saturday 1st February to take on the Firewalk and raise funds to support the training of our life saving dogs.

The Firewalk is returning to the Medical Detections Dogs Centre just outside of Milton Keynes for its second year! We are looking for people who are thrill seekers, adrenaline junkies or passion about supporting our fabulous dogs to register and raise funds to support our work.

Why register?

Apart from getting to claim your Firewalker title and commemorative Firewalk t-shirt, you will be helping us train more life-saving dogs who can support people like Jade. Find out more from Jade herself below and how her life has changed since Jules joined her family.

Hear from some of our 2024 Firewalkers!

“It was great fun to do something new for such a worthy cause there is nothing to lose!” – Zoe

“I found out about MDD through one of my dog friendly holiday cottage business owners and when I discovered they were doing a FireWalk to raise money, it was an instant yes from me!  The life changing work they do is truly amazing and if it meant that I needed to be terrified out of my wits to help support them, so be it!  As it turned out, it was not terrifying at all. Just very exciting and a lot of fun!  There was a great amount of support and introduction to the walk and how to do it and when it came to actually putting my bare feet on some hot coals it was a real wow moment!”

– Sue

“I wanted to take part in the fire walk for MDD as, for some reason, I like putting myself through torture for a good cause. I have now completed the Swanbourne Endeavour, The London Marathon, and the Fire Walk for MDD.

I was quite anxious before the fire walk but found it much easier than expected. It was still ‘thrilling’, but once I knew you don’t get burnt, it wasn’t difficult or scary at all. I did want to repeat it many times too – as many other people did – for the thrill of it!”

– Hayley

“I was very excited when the opportunity to take part in the firewalk came up!
One of my fellow volunteers and fundraisers had taken part the previous year for MDD and had said she found it a huge buzz, so I wanted some of that!

I was happy to take part in a challenge that was more ‘mind over matter’ than getting my sports gear on!

I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and it was great to have friends and family along to watch the whole spectacle! I joined as a team, and we raised a very healthy amount through sponsorship for the charity which is so close to our hearts!”
